Tony Loades

Tony Loades has always been passionate with the visual arts and has painted in oils most of his life. For a number of years after studying Fine Art Photography at Exeter Art School he painted photo-realism and adores the challenge of portraiture ‘being the ultimate challenge’.

Now he has a freer style wanting to capture the movement and atmosphere of nature, a subject very close to his heart, with the texture of the paint creating depth and a sculptural feeling.

He was born in Kent and has lived in Devon for almost 40 years, getting inspiration from the wonderful moody countryside of Dartmoor to the vibrant movement of the sea at the enormous variety of coastline around Devon and Cornwall. Although self taught he has exhibited successfully at the Affordable Arts Fair in Battersea and sold works in London and the South West.
